This Privacy Policy explains how Spott (“Spott,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with this website, spottguide.com, and the Spott mobile application that is currently in development. We built Spott to be privacy-minded by design, and this policy reflects that commitment.

The Spott mobile app is not yet available. When it launches, it will present its own detailed, in-app privacy disclosures and request your consent for any sensitive data, such as location, before that data is used. The section below titled “The Spott app (forthcoming)” describes our intended approach.

Information we collect

Information you provide. If you contact us — for example, by emailing hello@spottguide.com or asking to receive updates — we receive the email address you use and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to you and, if you asked, to send you occasional updates about Spott.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect basic technical and usage information when you visit, such as your browser type, device type, referring pages, the pages you view, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this to understand how the site is used, to keep it secure, and to improve it.

How we use information

• To respond to your inquiries and provide the information you request.
• To send you updates about Spott, but only if you have asked us to.
• To operate, maintain, secure, and improve this website.
• To comply with legal obligations and protect against misuse.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the site (for example, hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers), and only as needed for them to perform those services on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Spott and others.

Cookies and analytics

We use a limited set of cookies and similar technologies, including analytics, to understand site usage and improve the experience. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality.

The Spott app (forthcoming)

When the Spott mobile app becomes available, our intended practices are:

• Location with consent. Location data will be used to power features such as nearby discovery and day-of trip guidance, and only after you grant permission. You will be able to change or withdraw that permission at any time in your device settings.
• Aggregate-only partner reporting. We help local businesses understand what is working in aggregate. We do not provide partners with the identifiable path, dwell time, or choices of any individual person, and we do not sell the movements of individual users.
• AI features. Some features use artificial intelligence to generate recommendations and plans. Where AI processes your inputs, we will disclose that data flow and process it on our servers.
• Data retention. We aim to retain precise, identifiable data only as long as needed, while keeping aggregate, de-identified insights that do not single you out.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights (including under the GDPR and the CCPA). To make a request, email us at hello@spottguide.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

Spott is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the website or, where appropriate, the app.
